As you can imagine, by Day 18 we were exhausted and ready to be done driving already. We had one final stretch - from the Smokies to Philadelphia. Too long to power through in one day, we decided to crash with friends in Washington, D.C. and finish the trip in the morning.
It was Wednesday, October 23rd, the last day of our adventure across America. After a hearty breakfast and strong cups of coffee, we squeezed every last ounce of our tourist energy and went for a nice stroll through the National Mall before hitting the road.
Kind of fitting that we ended our Tour de USA in our Nation's Capital.
The air was brisk, the Autumn leaves were falling, and we were now officially living life on the East Coast.
We did it. It was a very happy and wonderfully peaceful afternoon.
