We love Tennessee. Memphis & Nashville were our favorite stops in 2010, so it was mandatory that we make them again.
We spent Friday night in Memphis and had cocktails at some local spots this time instead of the over-the-top Beale Street (one awesome bar we tried was in a three-story Victorian, called Mollie Fontaine Lounge).
Then Saturday morning we drove to Nashville for the rest of the weekend - and that's where our Tennessee party really began.
It was a big football weekend so upon arrival we immediately hit a sports bar on Broadway...which happened to be overrun by college students pre-gaming for the Luke Bryan concert at the downtown arena.
After much finagling, we secured a table in front of a flat screen and sweet-talked our waiter into changing the channel to the USC vs. Notre Dame game.
Wings, beer, sweet potato fries and 'SC athletics. Pete was a happy man.
There was also a live band playing covers of top Country hits, so I was a happy gal as well.
It would be the first of many live bands we'd hear that weekend - we pretty much spent the rest of our time in Nashville bar hopping down the main drag, dancing and singing to honky tonk favorites. Pure joy. I even think I may have converted Pete to a teensy-tiny bit of a Country Music fan! Yeehaw!
Ok sorry, I know. I will never say "yeehaw" again in my life.
